There is something truly special about getting together with the people you love to celebrate a season of life you’ll never experience the same way again.
We had the opportunity to host my sister’s couple’s shower here at the Shed and it was a day that felt relaxed, intentional, and beautifully reflective of who my sister, Ally and her now husband, Chris are.
Their vision was to have a relaxed, but elevated shower with no schedule, no games, no formalities. Just a day where friends and family could spend time together and celebrate in a way that felt meaningful.
The result was an afternoon that felt like a get together at one of our houses as opposed to a formal event and truly was so memorable in all the right ways!
A UNIQUE + GENUINE CELEBRATION
Choosing a couple’s shower felt like the most authentic way to celebrate Ally and Chris. It created space for both of them, their shared friendships, and their families to come together in one place, removing the traditional structure to something different and relaxed.
Every detail of the day was thoughtfully considered, from coordinating outfits with the event’s theme to decor that tied everything together without feeling overly formal. The atmosphere was cozy, elevated, and effortless, enhanced by a cool, softly cloudy (Ally's favorite) June afternoon that made the entire setting feel calm and intimate!
WHAT A DAY AT THE SHED CAN LOOK LIKE
Every celebration at the Shed is unique, but many events follow a natural timeline that allows guests to enjoy the space fully.
Guests typically arrive to the Shed, grab a drink, browse the retail space, and take in the unique setting.
This is followed by the candle-making experience - a shared activity that invites guests to explore scents, jars, and create something meaningful together. The process encourages conversation and connection, becoming a memorable part of the day without feeling too structured.
As candles cure, the celebration continues with food, drinks, and social time. Guests move between indoor and outdoor spaces, hang out around tables, and enjoy the relaxed pace of everything. The courtyard often becomes a favorite spot, as it's a setting that feels private, scenic, and one of the things that makes the Shed so special!
Desserts, photos, and open celebration time follow. Many events end without a clear conclusion, but with guests smelling their candle scents they made and enjoying the time together before saying goodbye.
That relaxed, unhurried flow is what gives celebrations here their signature feeling!
THE DETAILS THAT SHAPED THE DAY
Ally and Chris' shower was filled with so many thoughtful touches that made everything feel cohesive and personal!
A custom balloon install and signage welcomed guests, while a hand-created flower wall provided a really cute backdrop for photos! We even froze flowers into ice cubes, a small but memorable detail that guests continued to notice and comment on.
The letterboard message, "Love is in Bloom," tied perfectly into the overall theme, which reinforced the intentionality behind every part of their shower.
In our opinion, the most memorable part of the event though, was the space itself. The Shed offered the perfect balance of casual comfort and elevated charm - a place that felt less like a venue and more like celebrating inside a thoughtfully designed home!
A REMINDER THAT CELEBRATIONS CAN LOOK DIFFERENT
Hosting this shower held true with something we believe deeply: celebrations do not need to follow a template to feel meaningful.
The most memorable moments of the day were not scheduled activities, but easy going laughter, conversations between old friends, and the feeling of happiness that comes from everyone just being in one spot together.
At the end of the evening, we found ourselves still hanging out with our closest friends and family - exactly what Ally and Chris had hoped for from the beginning.
